11/22 Friday Email

Hey Team!!

It is going to be an amazing weekend!

On to our meeting - Lots to go through.....

Last Sunday Meeting Recap

  • Fundraising flyers

    • When advertising for fundraisers on social media, please use the flyers provided by the studio. This maintains consistency, ensures accurate information, and results in professional-looking materials.

  •  Assessments

    • We assess the dancers throughout the year rather than on a specific day. As needed, dancers may be moved to different classes based on our observations. If we notice that something in a class isn’t working, we will make adjustments right away. Erin believes in making changes immediately instead of waiting for a new season.

  • Commitment Outside the Studio

    • Kids often wonder why they're not working on specific skills in class. Erin explained that "practice makes perfect," and with only 1 to 2 days of dancing each week, progress can be slow. Committing to daily stretching and practicing skills at home will help speed up their progress.

    • Currently, a lack of flexibility is holding back many team members. Two flexibility classes per week at the studio are not enough to achieve significant improvement. These classes primarily focus on learning how to stretch and prevent injuries. To truly enhance flexibility, stretching should be done 5 to 6 days a week at home. As dancers become more flexible, they will find it easier to master certain skills.

    • Flexibility is important, but it is not the only area to focus on. Building strength and working on balance and turns is also crucial for development.

    • We would like to maintain the requirement of only 1 or 2 days of technique classes (depending on your commitment level), but it is essential for students to practice at home as well.

    • We will begin using stretch videos in flex/conditioning class and the teachers will provide corrections as the dancers follow along. We will share the link to these videos so they can also use them at home. This will help ensure that they are stretching correctly at home.

    • Here are the links for flexibility videos we will be using during classes. The kids can get started on these over break.

    • We are still researching to find some videos that you can access to help work on pirouettes and balance at home.

    • Take some before pictures so your dancer has something to compare themselves to in a couple of months. See their progress in a photo will help keep them motivated.
